With the E-CUT 200, the Springer Group, an Austrian specialist in machinery and conveying systems for the timber industry, offers timber producers an innovative trimmer with electrically operated geared pivot saw arms – the first ever without belts. They were developed by Austrian gear unit specialist Watt Drive, a subsidiary of drive manufacturer WEG, and are manufactured as special products. The E-CUT 200 also incorporates helical bevel geared motors by Watt Drive and W22 induction motors by WEG.

From November 25th to 27th, visitors to Stand 250, Hall 3 can learn more about how WEG supports engineers through integrated automation solutions.

From now on, the WEG EUSAS motor is available with IEC 63 to 315 frame sizes and power ratings from 0,12 to 200 kW. Motors are available as integral motors for gearboxes and as standard induction motors in two-pole, four-pole and six-pole versions with mounting positions B3, B5 and B14. This modular EUSAS motor (EUROPE, USA and ASIA) was jointly developed further by WEG and its subsidiary Watt Drive. It is the first to combine the energy-efficient WEG motor technology with Watt Drive’s proved and tested MAS modular gear unit system and can be used worldwide.

The mix of winners and losers at this year’s Sochi Winter Olympics may have been unpredictable, but one thing was for certain; keeping the relevant competition areas adequately snow-covered for the entire event duration was critical to the Games’ viability and success. Sufficient natural snow could not be guaranteed, so it had to be complemented on demand by snow from an alternative, man-made source.

WEG has added the CFW100 mini frequency inverter to its line of frequency inverters. This compact inverter is available in three sizes (A, B and C) for rated motor power from 0,18 to 0,75 kW and rated current from 1.6 to 4.2 A.

Mobile EUROMIX concrete mixing plants from SBM Mineral Processing (SBM), a member of the international MFL Group, which is headquartered in Oberweis (Austria), enable economical concrete production and processing directly on site. SBM consistently relies on drive systems from Watt Drive (part of the WEG Group) to drive a variety of conveyor belts in its mobile mixing plants. This includes the extremely mobile EUROMIX 400C plant.

Cranes, conveyors for discontinued conveyance of loads, need special drive elements with integrated brakes and frequency inverters that ensure soft acceleration- and deceleration processes. Due to the compactness, shaft mounted geared motors with elastic torque arms are often used for the driving of crane- and trolley traveling gears. Watt geared motors with WEG frequency inverters or soft starters offer the WATT customer the entire drive range for this application.

Watt Drive (part of the WEG Group) helical bevel gearboxes are being used in a new straightening unit at steel producer ArcelorMittal’s plant in Belval, Luxembourg. The project was carried out by engineering company TBR casting technologies (part of the Inteco Group). The Type K139 gearboxes prove that compactness and robustness can deliver with high performance.

On applications such as pump drives, gearboxes with high output speed are needed. Single-stage gearboxes from Watt Drive in a power range from 0.12 – 37kW can be delivered in a reduction range of 1 – 11. The type series includes 6 gear sizes with rated torques of up to 1200Nm.

Newly designed coupling adapters (IAK) for the mounting of IEC motors of the sizes 200/225 (B5) are available by midyear. With this diversification Watt Drive completes the coupling adapter system up to a motor rated power of 45kW (4-poled). The torque transmission between drive motor and gearbox is realised with the help of form-fit, low backlash claw coupling. The elastomer insert (98 Shore A) dampens efficiently emerging vibrations and impacts.

It is only recently that a project could be realised with company LMF, the leading Austrian manufacturer of high-pressure piston compressor systems for air, natural gas, as well as technical and industrial gases, in which explosion-proof WEG motors are driving reciprocating piston compressors.

Thanks to the substantial ATEX motor programme of WEG, Watt Drive has the possibility to deliver the matching explosion protected drive for nearly all power ranges and application fields. No matter if gas- or dust area and which ignition protection type is required, WEG has the appropriate solution. At that we are not only considering the highest safety, but also cost efficiency. The motor series W22X is available for several type series up to efficiency class IE3.

The currently effective energy efficiency standard IE2 is going to be replaced by IE3 in the year 2015. From this time only IE3-motors or IE2-motors with speed control are allowed to be distributed within the EU. This standard is subject to 2, 4, 6-pole motors for the power range of 7.5 - 375 kW.
